Emergency Response Projects
LWSIT responds to any disaster situations within its existing geographical operational area. It also responds to major disasters across the country, subject to need and availability of resources. LWSIT maintains close coordination with Government, Inter Agency Groups and with other International and National NGOs during the time of disaster as well in normal time. As core principles, LWSIT follows SPHERE standards and HAP principles while responding to disasters. Some of the major emergency response in recent years includes:
Flood Response and Rehabilitation program in Kendrapara, Jajpur and Puri districts in Odisha supported ECHO/DCA, ACT Alliance and DCA supported Material Aid during 2011-12
Emergency response to Flood disaster in Cuddalore and Nagapattinum districts in Tamilnadu during 2010-11
Material Aid Grant supported by DCA: Emergency response to Tropical Storm in Bihar in 2010
ECHO/DCA supported Cyclone Aila Recovery Project in Sundarbans during 2010-11
ACT Alliance supported flood response/ rehabilitation program in Odisha during 2008-09
ACT Alliance supported Tsunami Response Program in Cuddalore and Nagapattinum districts of Tamilnadu during 2008 – 2010
